Sports Massage
This form of deep tissue
massage offers many benefits:
- Relieves muscular
tension due to the removal of waste. Often pain is caused
through tension rather than injuries. Waste can also cause muscle
fatigue.
- Improves blood
circulation, therefore hastens the interchange of oxygen,
nutrients, carbon dioxide and waste. This feeds each and
every cell in the body. This will help to speed up the rate
of recovery for any injuries. It will improve scar tissue.
- Massage encourages
the production of natural pain relieving endorphins. This
can reduce the need to take prescribed painkillers.
- Massage increases
brain activity releasing seratonin levels in the body. These
are hormones which help to create a feeling of calm.
- Skin tone and
elasticity are improved.
- The deep penetrating
techniques make it possible to break down adhesions between muscle
fibres and its surrounding fascia, and of fascia situated between
muscle groups, between muscle and bone, tendon and tendon sheaths.
- Increases lymphatic
circulation, this boosts the immune system, helps fight infection
and again hastens removal of waste. A build up of lactic
acid left in the body can lead to inflamation of the joints and
may eventually aggravate arthritis and rheumatism.
- Improved lymphatic
draining can help to reduce oedema.
- Massage can be
deeply relaxing; this reduces the amount of stress hormone
cortisol released into the body. This helps to prevent the
developement of stress related complaints e.g. high B.P.,
digestive/bowel problems, headaches and insomnia.
Sports massage can be
used prior to exercise to warm up the muscles or after training for
the relief of aches and pains.
Regular treatments will
enhance your training regime, allowing you to perfom at optimum
levels.
