THE BOWSHOT ALL SAUCE - 6TH FEB 05 The excellent new venue at Bowshot Farm near Lyme Regis, certainly proved to be a most interesting and enjoyable circuit Heavy rain all day Saturday produced a bit of a greasy pig . After a bit of careful planning early on Sunday morning, the Gravity team re-routed and created a nice flowing track for the youth quads. Early on the race Ben James got his nose in front of Aimee Day and started to make good ground . Unfortunately for Ben , his quad started to give him a bit of trouble. Aimee seized the opportunity to take her to the finish line. Bethany Miller raced hard to secure second with Ben coming in a close third. The younger youths battled away providing some very entertaining racing with Yorath Williams winning the 11-13 age group and Callem Goodfellow winning the 8-10 age group. Hats off to the young-uns, 19 out of 20 completed the course. The track was then re-routed again to give the adult quads and sidecars something to get their teeth into. The sauce by this time was starting to get glutinous, but was soon spread about in every direction, with the morning sunshine helping to disperse the moistness. Expert quad rider Porky Davis took hold of the reins and led a smooth enjoyable ride from start to finish. The battle for second was between Jon Morgan, Sparky Williams, Andy Downes and Rob Orchard. Due to mechanical failure we think, Jon and Rob had to retire earlier than they would have liked. "Sparky arse over the back Williams" came to a rather abrupt end when his back axel snapped and over took him ! in one of the ditches. Andy Downes pulled off second place. Clubman quads were having a right old sort out (some of them must owe me a few quid for all the top soil they keep taking home with them.) Richard Burch "Cyclops" pinned his swede into a tree , out came the ketchup all over the auction. Rich not deterred by this hunted on to reel in a tidy 14 laps. Young Jamie Dean had a good solid race along with Nigel Hughes . Up at the front a bit of a shin-dig was developing between Paul Evans, Craig Horton , Tim James and young gun Craig Mcloughin. By lap three old timer Horton was sniffing new boy Evans's smoke. Within a few corners , bogs and banks Horton was there While this was going on Mcloughin was crawling his way up the pile, By lap six he was on the top and there he stayed to the end, cool as a cumber. At Topper Corner on separate laps both Tim James and Horton rolled their quads and landed on their hats. Tim shaken but not stirred, Craig puzzled bars and stem doing a 45 degree'er, both back on the gas to the end . Fair do's to the sidecar brigade ,unfortunately some of the wooded section proved a tad to tricky and saucy .The Gravity boys acted quickly and soon had the show on the road ,separate route for the karts. The Rutherford and Geraghty crew stomped on in front at good rate of knots, until a tree attacked them. This left the Williams bros in a prime position, a good quality ride from a couple of level headers. Late starters Paul Rutherford and Vickie Harris got the bit between their teeth putting in some greedy speedy laps to bring their total up to 15. Anne and John Giles started late but showed great form and skill to notch up 10 laps even with an early retirement. Jack Twentyman led the experts of the line at a good old gallop, but after 8 laps the bike had had enough. Darren Cains saw the door was open and bolted of to the end .Phil Studley ,charging on had to keep his wits about him as he left his front brake lever in some bush back down the track. Geof Bridgden come home with an uninterrupted third .The clubman solos saw Nigel Wickham come home first with a tasty 17 laps to his credit. Good to see some of the more mature gents ( Roy Chamberlin and Richard Goodfellow) getting to grips with the saucy conditions< showing the boys how to do it. Thanks to the whole Gravity squad especially the boys in the wood who kept things moving at all times. Photos available from Actionsport . Next round here again on March 13th. Ask other riders to see how good it was. Get your entries in soon.
