Trail Riding in Mid Wales

How many times have you thought " I would love to trail - ride in Mid Wales but how do I find my way in the vast expanse of Cambrian Mountains? What do I do if my bike breaks down? Where do I stay?"

Now there is an answer to your questions, staying at The Lion Royal Hotel in the small market town of Rhayader, in the company of Bob Buck , who has been riding the trails of deepest Wales since 1965, and has an intimate knowledge of old trails, by-ways, and forgotten roads.

You can share his knowledge, insights and anecdotes over a day of trail riding in some of the most challenging countryside the British Isles has to offer.

Your weekend begins on the Friday night at the Hotel remote in the Welsh countryside, giving you a chance to get aquatinted and organised.

After breakfast Saturday you will start at approximately 9.00am, and within five minutes you will be "off road" and enjoying a full days riding with a lunch -time stop in a motorcycle - friendly pub to fuel both rider and machine.

An evening spent in the Hotel , in front of the large roaring Ingle-nook fire becomes a highlight as time, food and beer progress: the bogs become deeper, the hills steeper, the rivers wider.

On Sunday after another excellent breakfast, you are free to plan and ride your own routes or you can ride on 600 acres of private land (which has a 10 mile enduro track) until the afternoon, when back to the hotel to enable you load your machines and clean up for you journey home.

In the event of a bike breaking down or the odd bent handle bar/foot rest lever etc., there are workshop facilities locally.

We welcome all riders, both old and new, at all levels of ability, and Bob is always happy to offer help and instruction if required.

Just bring a motorcycle, warm clothing, and at least two pairs of gloves.

Motor Cycle Weekend

1 days guided trail riding including 2 nights Bed and Breakfast £65 per person per weekend (minimum of 6 people)

Motor Cycle Mid Week Break.

1 days guided trail riding including 2 nights bed and breakfast £60 per person per 2 day break (minimum of 8 people) 

Meals are available at the hotel (9oz Welsh Black Steak a speciality)

We also have locked parking facilities with a 20 car garage for cover and maintanence area for your bikes. We also dry all your bike clothes and boots for the following day's ride,
